Here’s a column from the Wall Street Journal about how the federal government is trying to implement Web 2.0 technologies: From Wikinomics to Government 2.0.
It sounds cool in theory, but I am getting first hand experience now in how the gov’t procedures frequently undermine effective communication. Without major policy and cultural shifts, I don’t see “government 2.0″ getting very far.
I would hope that they can do a freedom of information act pedia or – foiapedia. Wouldn’t it be nice if unclassified government documents could be converted to digital content without having to bend over backwards to request a simple document(s).
